This memory box is an excellent way to gift a few precoius photos that are sure to bring a smile to the reciprient’s face. It is a gift that will be treasured for along time to come.
It is easy to make and will certainly make a kind statement.
This box can hold up to twenty photos if you like. I used twelve photos in the box I gave as a gift.
This photo box is made of two boxes within a box. So, you will need to make three boxes that will be three different sizes. That means the measurements for each box will be different but how you construct the boxes will be the same way you construct an explosion box.
For those directions please go t0 https://www.ritaspapermotif.com/index.php/2022/11/02/small-gift-boxes…es-festive-style/ .
Once you have those directions you will need:
For the largest box:
- A 12” x 12” piece of cardstock. Score 4” on all four sides. This will be the box.
- A 6-1/8” x 6-1/8” piece of cardstock or coordinating Designer Series Paper. Score 1” on all four sides. This will be the lid.
For the medium box you will need:
- A 11-1/4” x 11-1/4” piece of cardstock scored at 3-3/4 on all four sides. This will be the middle or medium box.
- A 5-7/8” x 5-7/8” piece of coordinating cardstock or Designer Series Paper scored at 1” on all four sides.
For the small box you will need:
- A piece 10-1/2” x 10-1/2” piece of cardstock or Designer series paper scored at 3-1/2” on all four sides. This will be the smallest box.
- A piece of 5-5/8” x 5-5/8” cardstock or coordinating Designer Series Paper. Score a 1” on all four sides.
Once you have made the three different explosion boxes you will need to use adhesive to attach the boxes together. Place your adhesive on the middle square of the opened large box. Then place the middle square (bottom side) of the second largest box on the square of the largest box that has adhesive. Thus, the largest box on bottom with next size box secured on top. Then adhere the smallest box on top of the second largest box. Now the boxes are all attached at the middle and the sides will cascade when lid is removed.
I used layers on the inside squares of my boxes that I will use as matting for my photos. Those square that I used to mat my photos measured 4” x 4” for the large box. The matting squares for the middle bx measured 3-5/8” x 3-5/8” for middle box. Lastly the square that mat my photos for the square inside the smallest box measured 3-3/8” x 3-3/8”.
f course, you can decorate your boxes any way you choose. I made this box to give to my brother so I used cardstock that was in my stash and that the color would be pleasing to him
