A typical gate fold is a card that resembles the opening of a grand gate. It is a rectanglar piece of cardstock folded inwards from both sides. The gaye fold is created when sides are folded inwards meet in the middle. An Offset Gate Fold has sides that do not meet in the middle.
I created this Offset Gate Fold using items from the Happy Hollyhocks Kit and some items from my supplies.I used the measurments listed below to create a version of the offset gate fold but feel free to change up the measurements keeping in mind the sides must meet so that they open and close like a gate.
Here is what i did:
- On my trimmer I placed a sheet of Caylpso Coral cardstock with the 8-1/2″ side facing upward. I cut the sheet of cardsctock in half. The finished measurements were 11″ x 4-1/4″
- I rotated the half sheet of cardstock so that the long side was facing upward. With my scoring blade (the light blade) I scored at 4″. I extended the arm on my timmer and scored at 9-1/2.
- With my bone forlder I secured the fold lines.
- From some Basic White cardstock I cut a 3-2/4″ x 5″ piece for the inside of my card. This is where you can stamp a sentment or a message.
- Then I cut a piece of the white card base from the Hello Hollyhocks card kit.the one with a sutble print to 4″ x 4-3/4″.
- I cut a 1″ x 4″ strip out of Calypso Coral for the right flap.
- I adhered this piece of the cut up card base from the kit to the left side panel of my card base.
- I decorated this piece with ephemera, the banner and sentiment from the hollyhock kit card.
- In addition to the ephemera and kit contents I decorated with a butterfly from the paper butterfly accents. (I used my Calpso Coral Stampin Blends to color the butterfly.)
- I found some DSP in my stash that cordinated with the Calypso Coral cardstock and layerd it on the right side flap.
