It seems like I have been on a gate fold kick lately. Guess what? I created a -double gate fold  using some new and old materials.

What Is A Double Gate Fold Card you ask? This type of card fold is one where the front of the card opens from the center outwards to both sides. With a regular gate fold card, you have a single flap that opens to the left and one to the right. With a double gate fold, there is an extra fold on each side that can be extended outward as you open the card.

I used:

  • Gorgeous Grape cardstock
  • White & Gorgeous Grape striped DSP from my stash
  • Leaf patterned DSP from my stash
  • Basic White cardstock
  • Friends For Life Bundle
  • Memento black ink
  • trimmer
  • liquid glue
  • Flowers of Beauty Dies
  • Stamp & Write Markers-garden green, pumpkin pie, daffodil delight, and melon mambo.
  • Bone folder
  • Perennial Postage Dies
  • dimensionals
How I created the card.
  1. With my trimmer I cut an 11″ x 5-1/2″ piece of Gorgeous Grape  cardstock
  2. With the 11″ side facing upward on my trimmer, I scored at  1-3/4″, 3-5/8″, 7-5/8″, and 9-3/4″.
  3. At the 1-3/4″ scoreline  I made a valley fold. Of course I used my bone folder. Then at the 3-5/8″ scoreline I made a mountain fold, at the 7-5/8″ scoreline a valley fold and at the 9-3/4″ I made a mountain fold.
  4. From coordinating DSP I cut (2) 1″ x 5-1/4″ (I used the leaf pattern DSP). Then I adhered a strip to each of the more narrow folds.
  5. I cut (2) 1-3/4″ x 5-1/4″ pieces of coordinating DSP (I used Gorfeous Grape and White striped but use what you want.), and adhere to the two remaing front parts of gate.
  6. I cut a 4″ x 5-1/4″ piece out of Basic White for the inside message.
  7. With my Memento BlackIink and the word “friend” from the  Friends For Life stamp set, I stamped on the 4″ x 5-1/4″ piece of basic white.
  8. Then I adhered the stamped inside layer to the inside of the card.
  9. I used the “Thank you for being a” sentiment  and stamped on a piece of Basic White cardstock.
  10. With the fourth largest die from the Perennial Postage dies I cut out the sentiment.
  11. With the next largest Perennial Postage die I cut out a piece of Gorgeous Grape cardstock.
  12. I adhered the white sentiment strip to the Gorgeous Grape cut out..
  13. With dimesionals I adhered the left side of the sentiment to the smallest flap on left side. Make sure the dimensionals sit between the left side of the sentiment and the small left side flap. Otherwise you will cloe your gate fold.
  14. I used one of the stem and flower dies from the Flowers of Beauty dies and cut on a piece of Basic White.
  15. I used my  Garden Green marker to create a stem/stalk on the cut out. Then I used the rest of the markers to create flowers.
  16. I adhered the salk on the left side of the sentiment strip.
  17. Then I decorated with gems.
