Sometimes when I am seriously contemplating a card design I look at card sketches and more often than not I get inspired. Sometimes I get so inspired that I design many cards. Today was no exception!
Here is the card sketch I used today. I found the sketch on page 22 of our annual catalog.
Using the card sketch to create a card design I:
- From looking at the sketch I knew the card base was a top folding A2 size card. So I knew that the card front measurements were 5-½” x 4-¼”
- I most often cut a 4”x 5-¼” piece of cardstock or Designers Series Paper. As I was trying to decide on which Designer Series Paper I wanted to use, a thought came to me. Hmmm I think I want to use some scraps or maybe some of the Designer Series Paper I earned during Sale-A-Bration. And so I did. I cut the 4”x 5-¼ layers.
- I knew from the sketch that there were DSP or cardstock. I cut those strips ¾” x 3-¾”. I adhered them to the layer already laid down on the card base.
- I cut a 2-¼” x 3” layer of cardstock or DSP. This will be the base layer for the sentiment.
- I cut a 2” x 2-¾” piece of Basic White cardstock. I decorated this white layer and for a sentiment I dug into my stash. I re-discovered some of the sentiment cutouts from the GREETINGS FOR ALL MIX & MATCH EPHEMERA PACK. I definitely used them.
In creating this card I used some Designer Series Paper I had in my stash. This paper was a prize for a sales challenge awhile back. I also used Melon Mambo Cardstock and ink. They are definitely in the annual catalog . I also used the Flowers Of Beauty stamp set .

Here are a couple more cards I created using the same sketch as inspiration. Oh yes using up my Designer Series Paper and scraps from my stash is so rewarding.
